saying that she’s seen my first semester results and we need to talk. YES I KNOW I FAILED THE ENTIRE SEMESTER. THIS IS HARDLY SURPRISING GIVEN THAT I DIDN’T GIVE IN ANY WORK AND DIDN’T ATTEND HALF THE EXAMS. explaining mental illness and its effects on work is not fun. I did hint that I was going to have to retake, but maybe she didn’t realise I meant the whole semester....

I can now be found on my pregnancy related blog :)
waitingtomeetbaby.tumblr.com will still be updating this blog (I think) but that’s where I will be most of the time.

hormones strike again
Spent an hour sobbing hysterically into my pillow because I muddled up the baby blanket I was knitting (started the row with a knit instead of a purl and just generally was being backwards). I only did one row wrong but I had a complete breakdown about it.

Jasmine Miles-Granger Persephone Miles-Granger Hermione Granger (LOLOLOLOLOLL) ARGHHHH Jasmine had always been our decision but I just love the name Persephone but the two don’t go together. Kind of hoping it’s twins just so I can use both names (even though the first scan determined that it wasn’t twins).

how to correctly hold a baby the dos and don’ts of baby care how to correctly change a nappy how to place a child to sleep how to burp a baby how to breastfeed a baby how to give birth and how you know when you’re going into labour. so basically everything baby related, I am completely ignorant at. I also have the strongest intuitive feeling that 1) it’s a girl and 2)...

I’ve just realised why I’ve been so negative to and about my boyfriend lately. It’s because cutting myself off and criticising him and pretending like I can actually live without him and don’t need him anyway because he’s useless (which he isn’t) is so much easier than just letting myself miss him.

to be fair he’s new to this too and doesn’t know what to research, and he did look up all the stuff I could and couldn’t eat during pregnancy and health stuff, and he is visiting as much as he can. I just want someone to be here, you know? So it’s not just me. Because at the moment it’s pretty much me, my teddy bear and my unborn baby against the world.

so sick and tired of not having any support.
I just wish someone would help me out once in a while. I mean my boyfriend is supposedly so commited to me and having a baby with me and us living together, but this is what I am currently doing: - researching options about types of maternity leave (I also researched about leave of absence for him, at his uni, because he apparently couldn’t find info on it on his university homepage.....

I’m african and love plantains as a chip or french fry substitute… I love clementines! There’s something so satisfying about peeling them and eating them segment by segment. And I’ve tried plaintain chips, they are YUMMY. Ooooooh now I want them. But my...

healthy filling snack ideas?
I’ve been munching on tubes of pringles too much lately and I really need to train myself to eat healthier snacks rather than crap that makes my sugar levels go doolally. Just because I’m recovering from an e.d. and have been depriving myself of nourishment for too long, doesn’t mean I can be justified in eating too much junk food.

to do
- catch up on and copy down lectures notes from World Music lecture 2 (sub saharan Africa) - catch up on what I’ve missed in electroacoustic composition (and email my lecturer asking why when I turned up to my group lecture on friday there was no one there) - find a way to MAKE THIS FUCKING COLD GO AWAY. seriously, I’m so snuffly it’s untrue.

it seems you can do quite well selling cute knitted items. That crocheted tea cup cosy was sold for £10.00 on etsy. Not bad when it barely requires any wool! Of course this woman has a large following and designs these things herself, and sadly I’m just not good enough but I would like to keep going with knitting and embroidery and cross stitch which I also do, and get to the stage where I...

and there are such cute maternity tops too (although some are so tacky like a hot pink one that says OMG Im Pregnant in sequinned letters *shudders*)but I can hardly wear a top that says “I love my bump” or (my personal favourite) a black top that says in white writing “ten fingers and ten toes” with a little footprint next to the belly.

telling people
people say wait until week 12 to start telling people because that’s when you’re in the all clear zone as far as the percentage chance of having pregnancy loss.At that point the risk is 3%. But if you have a scan at around 6-7 weeks (which I did) and a heartbeat is detected (which it was) the risk drops from 5% down to 3% (the same percentage as at week 12). So I could start telling...

knitting knitting knitting YAY
who loves knitting? I LOVE KNITTING. I haven’t knitted anything in ages but my next project will be a baby blanket. I want it to be yellow (a sunny happy, unisex colour) and coincidentally my mum has discovered that she has 12 balls of yellow wool perfect for a baby blanket. Bring on the knitting! I also want to make mittens and boots and a hat, but I’m not really skilled enough yet...
